Francesca Gibbons worked as a copywriter at a marketing agency before leaving to focus on her career as a children’s author. The Shadow Moth is her debut novel. It was inspired by the gardens she visited as a child, and her love of folklore and monsters. It is the first book in the Clock of Stars trilogy.
“I spent most of my childhood in Stafford, making my sisters steal the neighbour’s strawberries and reading them the books that I wrote.
My sisters are quite tall now. They no longer do as I say and they’ve formed a strawberry-thieving union. But I’m still writing stories.
I studied English at the University of Bristol. Then I swore I’d never go into marketing and promptly got myself a sales & marketing job..
I spent most of my twenties working as a copywriter. I’ve been lucky enough to write for Microsoft, The National Trust and Jack Wolfskin.
Today, I live in the Cotswolds with my husband and our geriatric cat. I work as a children’s author and a freelance copywriter.”
