“After high school, I attended Rutgers University and studied English and Journalism there. I knew I wanted to be a writer, and journalism seemed to be a way to write and get paid for it. I worked on the college newspaper and even worked as a newspaper reporter for a little while, but when I graduated I got a job as an editorial assistant at a small publishing company. I learned a lot there about how books are edited, published, and sold.”

“My friends Bonnie and Lisa and I came up with an idea for a children’s book called Great Uncle Dracula. We wrote the book under the pseudonym Jayne Harvey. It was the first time one of my original ideas got published, and I really liked that feeling.”

“I love writing books based on cartoons, video games, and movies. Some of the properties I’ve enjoyed working on include LEGO Ninjago, Poptropica, Club Penguin, Star Wars, Adventure Time, She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, and many more.

"I have also created and/ or written for several more chapter book series, including The Cupcake Diaries (as Coco Simon), Scream Shop, Hiro’s Quest, Heroes in Training, Franken-Sci High, and Perfectly Princess (as Alyssa Crowne). But these days I am most known as the author of the New York Times bestselling chapter book series, Dragon Masters.

“Today I live in the Catskills mountains with my husband, Bill; our four dogs; and a whole lot of chickens. My three step-kids are all grown up. When I am not writing books (which is most of the time), I like to work in my garden, walk in the woods, read books, and watch cartoons and food shows on TV.
